Some interesting leaks in the world of AMD Zen 6 today, as ASUS have seemingly confirmed that their AM5 motherboards will support Zen 6.
This is all thanks to a listing on their website, which confirms that the the ASUS X870 AYW GAMING WIFI W does indeed support Zen 6. But there’s something further – as you might know, it’s becoming increasingly common for modern motherboards to have a 64 MB BIOS instead of the previously established trend of 32 MB. We have seen a trend lately of some motherboard manufacturers cutting support for earlier CPU generations, as of course all that support across multiple gens does still take space, so some have opted to cut older CPU support due to space constraints.
But there’s some good news everyone (admit it, you heard that in his voice) as it was up until now unclear if both 600 and 800 series motherboards would support Zen 6. But HXL on Twitter, who you should remember if you’ve watched our videos for a while, has stated that both the 32MB and 62MB variants of these boards indeed have Zen 6 support.
HXL also went on to assuage concerns that we could see older CPUs being removed from support as we discussed above, but thankfully he was quick to state that we should not see a repeat of history here as we did see Zen 4 support being removed on 32MB motherboards when Zen 3 released.
