Resident Evil Requiem – First Combat Gameplay Footage Surfaces

Ever since Capcom announced RE9, better known as Resident Evil Requiem, they haven’t been shy with the gameplay trailers. We’ve gotten a good look at the game’s atmosphere, as well as little peaks at the storyline and characters too – but we’ve yet to see any of the combat. Until now.

Infamous leaker Aesthetic Gamer aka Dusk Golem has shared some footage on their Twitter, which showcases a special program which aired on Japanese TV. As you can see below, the segment shows off a brand new area and Grace fighting several zombies.

AG also noted in the replies that “One thing I’ll clarify is since this aired on Japanese television, this is 100% the censored Japanese version. RE games get a “censored” version and a “Z-Rated” version released in Japan, things like headshots/dismemberment are always censored in the Japanese non-Z rated versions”

Given the long awaited return of Raccoon City, we naturally see heavy Resident Evil 2 Remake vibes from the combat showcased here. We can see some differences in the animations, though, and of course this is just a tiny snippet of the combat in a rather poor quality video. We also do not know what build it is that’s being shown off here.

Many people including myself are hopeful that the return of Raccoon City and what remains of the RPD will also mean a return of fan favourite Leon S Kennedy, but I am not surprised we have yet to see him. I think we are almost definitely going to see Leon again in Resident Evil: Requiem, but if he is in it I wouldn’t be that surprised if Capcom want to keep him a secret until the game releases.

Even if we do get a small teaser of him before the game comes out to build hype, I think any details around what role he plays or if he is playable at all will not be something that Capcom just casually reveals.
