Recently, we discussed how the Nintendo had increased production for the Switch 2 as they were expecting record breaking sales.
And now, Nintendo have issued a report for their quarterly and half year results for 2025 (from April to September) which touted that the Switch 2 has already outpaced the original Switch console.
So it seems that Nintendo’s preparations were wise indeed, as according to the report the Nintendo Switch 2 has blasted past 10 million units sold, having sold 10.36 million units. Considering the Switch 2 only released in June 2025, this is very impressive indeed, and it’s outpacing the already very successful Switch by a decent amount as it took the Switch 10 months to break 10 million.
Due to this Nintendo have once again revised it’s sales forecast for the Switch 2, which originally sat at 15 million units sold by the end of the fiscal year in March 2026. But now Nintendo are forecasting 19 million units sold by the end of this same period.

Unsurprisingly on the software side we do see Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza leading the charge, but given the limited time range and the small amount of exclusives available during it, I fully expect this to change by the end of the fiscal year. For example, this would not include the recently released Pokemon Z/A – and I would be shocked if that isn’t somewhere near the top of the pile when Nintendo issues their next report at the end of March.
But it seems once again that Nintendo have struck gold, and just like it’s predecessor the Switch 2 is basically a license for Nintendo to print money.
