Nintendo have yet to issue a statement on this as of the time of writing, so their claim and the extent of the damage can’t be verified. However, it’s worth taking into account that the Crimson Collective have attacked other companies such as Red Hat very recently (which was confirmed by Red Hat themselves), and they also alleged that they targeted the company Claro Columbia, stealing 50 million files total. So it’s far from impossible that this is entirely truthful on their part.
What’s unclear at the moment is what demands they may have made of Nintendo, as Red Hat also confirmed that they received extortion demands after they were hacked by the Crimson Collective. If Crimson Collective have also hacked Nintendo, it would hardly be surprising for them to make similar demands. But if the screenshot shared is accurate, it doesn’t look as if the Collective have touched user data which is some good news, but this hack could still be very bad indeed for Nintendo.
