AMD CEO Addresses AMD-Intel Partnership Rumors

You may have seen the very interesting report that was doing the rounds last week that claimed that AMD and Intel would be joining forces in an unlikely partnership, and now AMD CEO Lisa Su has commented on these rumours.

The AMD CEO addressed these rumours while in an interview with Bloomberg, saying “Well, um, as you know, the supply chain is something that we work on, um, you know, very, uh, meticulously. I think we have a very strong supply chain. Uh, we’re certainly deeply partnered with, you know, TSMC across the supply chain.

Uh, you know, just to that, earlier question, uh, we’re absolutely prioritizing building in the United States because that I think that’s super important. This is the, um, the US AI stack. We want to have as much of it in the US as possible.”

As you can see, Lisa Su was very careful in her response and definitely doesn’t completely kill the possibility of some sort of future deal between Intel and AMD. Now as Lisa herself addressed, they are currently in partnership with TSMC, but there’s nothing saying that could change in the future. Especially considering the recent ballooning in costs of TSMC’s wafer production – AMD may seek out an alternative partner than TSMC to try and get their costs down. But of course, this is purely speculation on my part and only time will tell.
